God is Love

God is Love

God’s love for us can never be understood, in showing his unfathomable love, he first gave to us his only begotten son that through him we shall have eternal life and not be condemned. He did not allow our sinfulness to prevent him from giving unto us his only begotten son, to be sacrificed so that we can become His children. “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) Beloved in Christ it is God who first thought about us and decided to show us the real definition of love. “So, we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16). God is ‘love’ itself and anyone who want to know what love is, must first know and believe in God. When we do this, we will grow in love as Christians and love like God.

My dear Christian friends, God is full of tenderness, compassion, he is slow to anger, rich in kindness and faithfulness. Therefore, anyone who loves is full of these, and God’s presence will continue to be with such a person because he will find favour in the sight of God. The one who loves will always be ready to forgive without counting the cost or looking back, this is the kind of love we exhibit when we are in Christ because The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is his faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23) Our love for each other must therefore be unshaken it must be strong, firm and unconditional.

The love of God brings happiness, perfects our lives, moves us to support and help each other, stay united no matter the disagreements, and live in peace. A German aviator, airline executive and religious leader, Dieter F. Uchtdorf says:

“Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without compass, God’s love encompasses us completely. … He loves every one of us, even those who are flawed, rejected, awkward, sorrowful, or broken.”

It is important to note that love must be extended to all because it has got no boundaries. If the love of God has be extended to us let us also give same to all because we have no authority to decide who receives the love of Christ and who does not. We must greet one another with a holy kiss (This means we must welcome everyone with love and make them feel welcomed).

God did not send his beloved son to the world to condemn us but to bring us salvation and eternal life. All we need to do is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and we shall be saved. As children of God who have the love of God working in us it is our duty to also present the love of God to the world to save them from condemnation.

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogantor rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

AMEN.
